About the project
This project is just an idea to create an exhibition representing the future of mankind and or planet without animals and highlight the speed we are heading into this future. We are increasing the climate's temperature, killing animals for pleasure, sport, and self-fulfillment. We are all connected in the ecosystem of our planet and must live harmoniously so everything can survive.
This idea is not innovative because many artists and designers have made many attempts to present the current situation of the animal world.
The best location to put this instalment would be within a Zoo, where its effect can have the greatest impact.
This hypothetical project is an expression of myself, but also a call to action for the whole world.
By providing short information on posters instead of detailed texts, I hope to flood the observer with facts from the very beginning, while he is still in the lobby. The number of posters and the layout pushes the feeling of guilt and devastation on you. Being surrounded by huge numbers related to the death of each species, hopefully, a few pieces of this information will stick with you for a long time.
The habitat exhibition itself is not very rich in elements but it is structured in such a way that the message is clear. Combined with sound effects and information about the extinction, it gives a clear, clean picture to each visitor. Using real cut trees is more impressive than using a photo. Also, the plate with meat may not be strange to anyone, but it is out of place when it takes centre stage of the monkey habitat.
The highlight of the entire exhibition is the VR room. The view behind the glass, from where we were a few minutes earlier, watching the virtual world through VR glasses, unaware that we were in a cage ourselves. It is thought-provoking to think we are the animals watched for entertainment in a zoo.
The exhibition statement name of ‘Bright Future’ is thought-provoking from beginning to end. At the start, it represents a collection of all animals and humans footprints on our planet yet towards the end it only represents human footprints, showing the extinction of other species.
This hypothetical exhibition is a representation of human concerns about a future without animals. Many people do not realize that in a world without animals there are no plants, and without these, we do not exist. Every creature, be it a fly, an elephant spider, a mouse, or a human, has the same will to survive. We humans can easily define these feelings and we should use empathy towards nature more often because without destroying nature we do not destroy ourselves. Someday we will not have to select cages for others to visit us in human zoos or to hunt our species for sport. Our entire lifestyle causes the death of more and more animals as a result our future looks bleak. How far are we willing to continue in this way?
We are all children of this planet yet unfortunately we are destroying our own home. Everyone can live in this house, we just need to be mindful and teach the future generations to love, care and honour our home. We must not kill but rather live in harmony.
